The goal of the Government, headed by socialist Pedro Sanchez, is to end August with at least 70 percent of Spaniards and residents with a complete vaccination scheme.

Increasingly moving the contamination dangers away from the so-called fifth wave is a priority across the national territory, with a record to date of 4.63 million Covid-19 contagions and 82,125 disease-related deaths since the pandemic broke out in the country.

The Ministry of Health informed that 70.4 percent of citizens have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, and 60.2 percent already have the complete vaccination scheme.

Sonia Zuñiga, researcher and virologist at the National Center for Biotechnology, told Spain’s Antena 3 Espejo Publico program on Tuesday that there are many Spanish vaccine candidates, but they are being developed slowly.

Few days ago, Spain decided to extend until August 23 the mandatory quarantine for travelers from six countries, four of them in Latin America, due to risks of contagions.
