Infection numbers fall but death rate from Covid-19 rise in Africa

Nairobi, Aug 17 (Prensa Latina) Covid-19 infections in sub-Saharan Africa significantly decreased yesterday, but deaths rose notably, the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDPC) reported today.

Concerning the newly infected, the CDPC reported 23,215 new patients, almost 7,000 less than those diagnosed in Monday’s report; the total number since the outbreak of the pandemic in the states south of the Sahara reached seven million 294 thousand 257.

However, with 876 deaths in the last 24 hours, more than a hundred over those that occurred yesterday, the total in that marker amounted to 184,472.
