Sub-Saharan Africa reports less than 1,000 Covid-19 deaths

Nairobi, Aug 19 (Prensa Latina) With 887 deaths on Wednesday, according to the report of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Thursday, the Covid-19 death toll in Sub-Saharan Africa dropped to less than 1,000 per day.

This data is a relief for those states, where specialized circles fear that uncontrolled spread of Covid-19 may occur under conditions of poor sanitation, crowded camps of displaced people and low ability to undertake immunization campaigns.

The CDC report indicated that 887 people died from this lethal disease in Sub-Saharan Africa in the past 24 hours, so the death toll rose to 186,486.

Meanwhile, the number of cases increased dramatically: 39,275 on Wednesday, nearly 17,000 more than the previous day, so the total number of Covid-19 cases in that territory rose to 7,377,230, according to Prensa Latina’s tally based on official numbers.
