The cause of death is not yet clear, said the authorities, adding that it may be dengue, indicated the Indo-Asian News Service agency.

About 80 people were admitted to various hospitals in the towns of Mathura, Agra and also in Rajasthan state’s Bharatpur with the same disease yet to be identified.

According to Health Department officials, two children aged nine and six years died in the hospital on Monday after being admitted with high fever. Other minors perished earlier after exhibiting similar symptoms.

Dr. Rachna Gupta, medical services chief, said a team of doctors visited the village and took samples for malaria, dengue and Covid-19 diagnosis from the admitted patients and their relatives.

The cause of the deaths is not yet clear, officials said, adding that there is a possibility of dengue, as blood platelets were low along with fever.

Authorities sprayed the village with insecticides and villagers were asked to report immediately to the hospital if they are with fever or other symptoms.
