India reports 44 thousand new cases of Covid-19

New Delhi, Aug 27 (Prensa Latina) India reported 44,658 new Covid-19 cases; the accumulated number of infected people has been raised to 32,603,188 since the pandemic broke out in its territory in January 2020.

496 people have died, with the total number of fatalities amounting to 436,861, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

For now, 31,821,428 people have recovered from the disease, with active cases at 344,899, the health authorities said.

India has only applied 612 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to date out of the country’s 1.350 million inhabitants, according to official statistics.

India is still the second country affected by Covid-19 worldwide in terms of the number of confirmed cases, only behind the United States, which has around 38 million infected, according to data from the World Health Organization.
