Speaking to Sky News, Ellwood, who is a former soldier and currently chairs the Parliament’s Defense Committee, criticized lack of strategy, statecraft and patience shown by the Government during the evacuation operation.

The way we came out is a humiliation, said the parliamentarian, who noted that many mistakes and a ‘litany’ of concerns to be addressed were made.

The United Kingdom ended Operation Pitting on Sunday, as it baptized the military mission deployed at a run at Kabul airport on August 13, when the victory of the Islamic extremist group was already imminent.

According to London, nearly 15,000 people, among UK and Afghan citizens who collaborated with the British troops during the 20-year occupation of the South Asian country by the US-led international coalition, have been evacuated from Afghanistan in the last two weeks.
