Syria protests to the UN for repeated aggressions by Israel

Damascus, Sep 3 (Prensa Latina) Syria's Foreign Ministry requested today the United Nations (UN) to condemn and immediately stop the repeated air attacks by Israel against its national territory.

Israel’s authorities persist in their policies and crimes against the countries’ sovereignty of the region, and lately committed a new aggression with missiles fired by airplanes from the airspace of Lebanon against the vicinity of Damascus, the Foreign Ministry denounced in two letters with the same text to the UN Secretary General and the president of the Security Council.

Syria’s Foreign Ministry described those attacks as cowardly and as part of a long chain of Tel Aviv’s violations of Syria’s sovereignty and its continued support for terrorist groups, in addition to its ongoing efforts to obstruct the achievement of a political solution in the country.

‘We warn Israel of the dangerous consequences of those aggressions perpetrated under false pretexts,’ the Ministry stated in the text.

Syria also demanded that the UN assume its responsibilities in the maintenance of international peace and security, and that Israel be held accountable for its attacks in accordance with the UN Charter and international resolutions, particularly those related to the fight against terrorism.

In the early morning, the anti-aircraft defense batteries of the Syrian Army repelled another new Israeli missile bombardment against the vicinity of Damascus.

According to the Syrian authorities, Israel perpetrated during 2020 about 100 aggressions against Syrian territory and already exceeded 23 so far this year.

The Government repeatedly condemned those actions and deplored the silence of the United Nations in the face of them, as well as ratified the legitimate right to defend the integrity and sovereignty of the national territory by all legitimate means.
