Addressing a high-level summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the president called to never allow interference by others and said that the region’s nations should seek progress on their own.

He considered pertinent to expand cooperation and free trade to facilitate the common development and assured that China will provide assistance to the countries most in need to strengthen their capacities and improve the living conditions of the population.

On the other hand, Xi emphasized the importance to talk and keep in mind the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, to provide solutions to issues of interest to the entire international community.

The meeting followed an event held on Thursday among the bloc’s foreign ministers in which they determined to promote a ‘smooth transition’ in Afghanistan.

The SCO consists of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan.

Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia are also participating as observers, while Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Turkey are its dialogue partners.
