Vietnam’s President pays official visit to Cuba

Havana, Sep 18 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam's President Nguyen Xuan Phuc will arrive today in Cuba to pay an official visit with a preliminary agenda that includes meetings with the main Cuban authorities as well as a tribute to historic leader Fidel Castro.

According to the scheduled program, the also member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of that country will hold a meeting with the Vietnam-Cuba Association on Saturday.

On Sunday, the head of State will pay tribute to the heroes Ho Chi Minh and Jose Marti, and will meet with Cuba’s Prime Minister Manuel Marrero and the head of the Cuban Parliament, Esteban Lazo.

On that day, Cuba’s President Miguel Diaz-Canel will also officially receive his counterpart to bestow him the Jose Marti Order, the highest distinction granted in Cuba.

On Monday, Xuan Phuc will be gathered with representatives of the Mariel Special Development Zone and experts in the biotechnological area on the country.

On the same day, he will pay tribute to Fidel Castro in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba before ending his official visit to the nation.

Cuba and Vietnam celebrated in 2020 the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, established on December 2, 1960.

Vietnam is the first investor in the region in Cuba with a relevant participation in projects related to food security.
