Association of Cubans residing in Ecuador establishes 2021-2023 goals

Quito, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) The Association of Cuban Residents in Ecuador (Acure) evaluated the work carried out from 2019 to 2021 and established goals to be met from today until 2023 by the community and their country.

The meeting was held virtually to allow the largest possible attendance of members of the organization from all provinces and included the participation of the Cuban ambassador to Ecuador, Basilio Gutiérrez, the first secretary in charge of consular affairs, Alexander Rodríguez, and other officials of the diplomatic mission.

The meeting included a balance of the activities carried out by Acure in the recently concluded administration, among which the commemoration of relevant events in the history of the country stood out, as well as pronouncements in support of the Cuban people and Government and against the economic and commercial blockade. and financier of the United States.

Cycling, marches and rallies in favor of Cuba, the first international chess tournament against the blockade, as well as the execution of solidarity campaigns, through donations of funds and materials to combat Covid-19 in the Caribbean territory, were other outstanding tasks in the 2019-2021 stage.

Within the framework of the meeting, the new authorities of the Association were also elected and the route that it will follow for the next two years was outlined.

As explained by the newly elected president, Antonio Dehesa, the initial tasks include updating the membership registry and promoting new affiliations.

Maintaining a permanent campaign of total solidarity with Cuba through the shipment of medical supplies, as well as integration into the network of Latin American associations against the blockade, achieving greater rapprochement between Cubans residing in Ecuador are part of the agenda.

Among the priorities, added Kenia Echemendía, who will remain on the board of directors, also includes expanding the spaces for socialization on relevant issues and work from social networks.

The biennial meeting was the space to ratify condemnation of the US siege against Cuba, extended for more than six decades and intensified in recent years, despite the global fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. Likewise, the attendees thanked the work carried out by the outgoing executive and highlighted the support of people involved in the preparation, socialization and execution of the actions deployed in these two years, which coincided with the Covid-19 pandemic.
