Lawsuit for racist acts will be filed today in Santa Cruz, Bolivia

La Paz, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivian government will file a criminal complaint this Monday against perpetrators identified with the outrage of disrespecting national symbols and promotion of racism in Santa Cruz, an official source reported here.

The text is completed, many of the participants in the discriminatory acts of the commemoration last Friday of the 211 years of the libertarian deed of that eastern department, have already been reviewed and recognized, said the Minister of Justice, Iván Lima.

The Vice Minister of Decolonization of the Ministry of Cultures, Pelagio Condori, will carry out the the lawsuit today, said the official in an interview on Bolivia TV.

He explained the investigation is complex as there were several implicated persons, who will not be mentioned yet so as not to distort the framework of due process and the respect that was not had with the victims of the events that arose.

After the identification, it was reported with transparency, clarity, who these people are, but we are at this moment in the presentation of the criminal process and that is what will lead us to a sentence, he added.

Lima mentioned, however, that Bolivian vice president, David Choquehuanca, will adopt a personal decision, which also has the criminal complaint ready.

The decision is his and he asked me to reflect on whether or not he would activate the legal action, said the Minister of Justice.

He asserted that what happened with the then acting president is framed in article 161 of the Penal Code, which provides sanctions for those who prevent and hinder the exercise of the highest public offices.

The Santa Cruz authorities, led by Governor Luis Fernando Camacho, gave the order to lower the tricolor flag and the wiphala (symbol of the original peoples) from the mast, which Choquehuanca had hoisted minutes before, so they would later be outraged.

Camacho, formerly a regional civic leader, was the main leader of the protests against the former head of state Evo Morales after the general elections of October 20, 2019, whose baseless argument of fraud he still maintains.
