After its arrival in José Martí Airport the team’s management made a statement in which they expressed their gratitude to the Cuban people for its display of affection, trust and support showed throughout the competition.

The note adds that knowing that it was the center of millions of fellow country men was a motive of inspiration to pass over the weakness of those who betrayed the team’s commitment, yielding to the impudence with which a disrespectful siege was orchestrated, outside the sporting sphere.

The FCB ratifies that the activity of the traffickers who contaminated the competition scenarios is directly supported by the cancellation of the implementation of the agreement signed by the Cuban Baseball Federation with Major League Baseball (MLB).

In this regard, the management of baseball in Cuba insists that the deactivation of such agreement closes the doors to the safe and orderly insertion of our athletes in that circuit, threatens the welfare and tranquility of the Cuban family.

The FCB adds that the unjust U.S. determination conditions that the aspiration of Cuban baseball players to prove themselves at that level goes through a humiliating and discriminatory treatment that implies renouncing their nationality and putting their lives in risk.

‘We denounce the meanness with which the administration of Donald Trump disqualified the agreement, determined to stimulate experiences such as those lived by our delegation, to present them as part of its smear campaign against Cuba,’ reaffirms the FCB in the text.

Finally, the document assures that for all of them, ‘it was an honor to represent a people that fights back, determined not to surrender, and we only regret not having given them a better result, a purpose that always encouraged us’.
