Cuban President expresses gratitude for solidarity at event in Africa

La Habana, Oct 7 (Prensa Latina) Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, via Internet, expressed his gratitude to those who where taking part in the VII African Continental Meeting of Solidarity with the Caribbean nation.

In his Twitter account the president underlined the brotherhood ties, the struggle and the heritage that we share. He evoked the legacy of leaders from both sides like Fidel Castro, Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara, Thomas Sankara and Oliver Tambo.

The meeting, organized by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples and which was to be held in Mozambique in November of this year, because of Covid-19, is being held on the Jitsi Meet platform. The encounter intend, among other goals, to strengthen the bonds between Cuba and Africa, and it will allow the participants to show the rejection to the agressive American policy against Cuba, which has sharpened in the middle of this sanitary crisis.

Likewise the members will pay tribute to Fidel Castro and Ernesto Guevara, two symbols of the internationalist fight for the freedom of the People.

The event will bring together initiatives and exchanges of strategies in favor of solidarity with Cuba and against the U.S. economic, commercial and financial siege, which has been in place for almost six decades and is considered to be the main obstacle to the development of the Caribbean nation.
