Lebanon regrets shooting victims

Beirut, Oct 15 (Prensa Latina) Lebanon on Friday woke up regretting the victims of a shooting occurred on Thursday in Beirut's Tayouneh neighborhood and the fear of an escalation.

The death toll rose to seven and 60 people were injured, after snipers holed up at office buildings fired on demonstrators who demanded the replacement of the investigative judge of the August 2020 port blast.

The Army takes to the streets of the area and one of its spokesmen confirmed the arrest of eight people, several of whom confessed premeditation in carrying out the ambush.

Earlier, President Michel Aoun repudiated weapons, promised justice for the victims and blamed the organizers of the attack.

Similarly, Prime Minister Najib Mikati apologized to the citizens and assured that the Army put the sites where those events took place under control.
