Cuba congratulates Turkey on anniversary of Republic

Havana, Oct 29 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a congratulation message on Friday to the people and Government of Turkey on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of the Republic.

On its Twitter account, the Cuban Foreign Ministry congratulated that nation on the date that celebrates the official declaration of its name by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (1881-1938), founding father and former president of Turkey.

Following the victory of Turkish forces over Greeks on the territory of Dumlupinar, near the Aegean Sea, in 1922, the establishment of the basis began so that the Republic of Turkey was official proclaimed on October 29, 1923.

Diplomatic relations between Cuba and Turkey were established on November 25, 1952, and they continue until this day.

In recent statements to Prensa Latina, Turkish Ambassador to Cuba Vehbi Esgel Etensel described those diplomatic ties excellent, and ratified the interest in strengthening ties in the economic sphere.
