President of the council of this city, capital of the Tuscany region, presented this award to Cuban Ambassador in Italy, Jose Carlos Rodriguez, who received it on behalf of Cuban health collaborators.

The lecture entitled “The dignity and humanitarianism of a people and its international solidarity policy: Cuba, from the discovery of America to date,” served as a backdrop for the award at the headquarters of the Florentine representation of the Italian Cultural Recreational Association (ARCI).

This event was organized by ARCI-Florence, the Agency for Cultural and Economic Exchange with Cuba (AICEC) and the Cuba-Mambi Visible Cities Project Group, in collaboration with the National Coordinator of Cuban Residents in Italy, the Sano, Justo and Solidario network and the Italy-Cuba Center of Studies.

This prize was also granted to AICEC, represented by its president, Michele Curto, for the coordination work carried out in August to send a donation of medical equipment, material and supplies worth 1.5 million euros to Cuba to fight against the pandemic.

The Golden Fleur-de-Lis Award was created to recognize people, associations and other institutions with a relevant peace promotion and solidarity work.
