On his Twitter account, the President shared a Granma newspaper’s story about this initiative by the Friendship Association between the two nations in Crema municipality.
“Where there was a field hospital, there is now an Italian square dedicated to the Henry Reeve brigade. A bridge of love and solidarity,” the Head of State tweeted.
Italian activist Marco Papacci told Granma that the square recalls the work deployed by the Cuban health professionals, the welcome given by the people and the mutual feelings of affection.
At the inauguration, a marble plaque was unveiled by the local authorities and Cuban diplomatic representatives.
The doctors of the Henry Reeve International Contingent arrived in Crema in March 2020 and worked there until June 8, 2020.
