According to that local newspaper, based on unidentified sources, Riyadh gave a two-day ultimatum or it will break off relations with Beirut.

“Kordahi’s dismissal or resignation would return the relationship to the phase that preceded his comments,” the publication stated.

The Saudi authorities adopted divorce measures with the Lebanese State and all its institutions and intend to raise the level of siege with sanctions, the anonymous source added.

Others, also unidentified, said that Saudi Arabia could ask its allies, the Lebanese Forces (Christian) and Future Movement (Sunni Muslim) parties, to resign in order to paralyze Parliament and the Government.
