During a meeting at the State House with Cuban Ambassador Carlos Manuel Rojas, both shared ideas in a cordial atmosphere on the development of relations between their respective countries.
The Cuban Embassy informed that Konrote expressed his confidence in the expansion of cooperation taking into account common challenges both countries are currently facing.
The head of State also acknowledged Cuba’s invariable support for the fair claims of small developing island countries, especially regarding the protection of oceans and the fight against climate change.
For his part, the Cuban diplomat, whose mission in this country will conclude, thanked Fiji for its solidarity in the fight for the lifting of the economic commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, and stressed Cuba’s commitment to keep on strengthening relations.
Both nations established diplomatic relations in 2002, and the Cuban Embassy in Fiji was established in May 2017.
