Sri Lanka’s death toll rises to 20 due to rains

Colombo, Nov 10 (Prensa Latina) The death toll from Sri Lanka's adverse weather conditions on Wednesday rose to 20, while five people were injured and one is missing, the Disaster Management Center (DMC) informed.

In total, 62,247 people have been affected by heavy rainfall and the resulting floods and landslides, while 980 houses were partially or totally damaged, Daily Mirror informed.

Around 1,500 people, belonging to 384 families, have been sent to 23 safe places managed by the DMC’s provincial offices.

Sri Lankan Navy teams involved in relief operations have rescued 288 people in the last 48 hours in several regions of the island.
