He further stressed that the complication phase of the disease also occurs at a faster rate than during the spread of the strain detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan, so the health care system has been more affected.

“It should be noted that in addition to the direct impact on demographic and medical indicators, the disease have left a dramatic imprint on the use of health system resources, including levels of medical care and financing,” he said, quoted by TASS news agency.

Murashko reported that the growth rate of Covid-19 incidence in Russia accelerated in September 2021, with more than 30 thousand cases registered daily since mid-October. He warned that since the end of last month, the nation reported more than 40 thousand contagions per day and since mid-October the number of deaths exceeds one thousand every 24 hours.

The operational general staff for the confrontation of the coronavirus in the country registered this Wednesday 1,239 deaths, a new maximum in one day since the beginning of the pandemic, reaching 250,454.

The number of positive cases increased by 38,58 thousand, for a total of 8,911,713 infections.
