Luanda, Nov 11 (Prensa Latina) Angola inaugurated today a specialized center for the treatment of endemics and pandemics (Cetep), aimed at patients with Covid-19, tuberculosis, HIV-AIDS, malaria and other high-incidence diseases.

The official opening of the health care complex was carried out by the president, João Lourenço, who toured several areas of the Cetep, located in the town of Calumbo, in the Luanda municipality of Viana.

With capacity for 1,300 homes and equipped with modern technology, the infrastructure is a concrete example of the Executive’s commitment to building a resilient health system, said the minister of the sector, Sílvia Lutucuta.

The inaugural ceremony took place in the context of the commemoration this November 11 of the 46th anniversary of National Independence, she said.

Lutucuta considered Cetep as a pillar of the State’s response to special public health events, in accordance with international standards.

The hospital has diagnostic areas with highly competent clinical laboratories, a heliport and lodging for most of its employees, among other support facilities.

According to the Health Ministry, Cetep is only in its first step, since the investment includes two other construction stages for emergency services, imaging, three operating rooms, a pediatric area with intensive care, a central laboratory and a warehouse for vaccines storage.
