Most Cubans completed Covid-19 vaccination schedule

Havana, Nov 11 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's Ministry of Public Health on Thursday reported that 70.5 percent of the population (7,883,145 people) has been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

According to an update by this institution, 10,048,518 people have received the first shot of domestic vaccines Soberana 02, Abdala and Soberana Plus.

Some 9,068,014 people have received two shots, and 7,447,815 citizens have received three doses, the source reports.

A total of 26,564,347 doses have been administered in Cuba. The country will shortly administer a booster shot to the population. The process started in the health sector on Monday.

Scientific Policy Director of the Group of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries (BioCubaFarma), Rolando Perez, explained that Cuban vaccines have a three-dose schedule.

He stressed that the booster shot will not only increase the number of memory cells, but also their quality.

Our vaccines are safe, without serious side effects, Perez said and explained that the strategy will be carried out step by step to increase protection in the face of new variants and relaxed measures.
