“We recall the hero of the Palestinian struggle who raised the flag of dignity in defense of his people. Seventeen years after his death, he is still in the hearts of those who champion self-determination,” the president tweeted.

Venezuela upholds the Palestinian people’s right to exist as an independent State within the borders stipulated in the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

During the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia met with his Palestinian counterpart Riad Al-Malki, and both agreed to strengthen multilateral cooperation to insist on compliance with the UN Charter and International Public Law.

Plasencia also reaffirmed Venezuela and President Maduro’s support to the fair cause of the Palestinian people and its choice of sovereignty and self-determination, according to a press release by the foreign ministry.
