Despite the national production instability and the international market due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there are signs of recovery in the sector, the Association’s directors stated.
Foreign sales in October were 47 percent higher than in September, with a significant upturn in tuna, squid, octopus and shrimp, they said.
The United States remained the main buyer of Vietnamese fisheries products with sales of 1.7 billion dollars, almost one-fifth of the total, followed by Japan and China, with 1.080 million dollars and 872 million dollars, respectively.
Fishery is one of the 25 groups of products that each year bring the country revenues for more than one billion dollars, but the sector’s immediate goal is to join the club of the six seafood processing companies that yield revenues for more than 10 billion dollars.
