Argentineans began voting at legislative elections

Buenos Aires, Nov 14 (Prensa Latina) Since early hours, more than 17,000 polling stations opened on Sunday in Argentina to elect lawmakers for 151 seats in the National Congress.

Over 34 million voters are eligible to cast their ballots to choose 127 members for the Chamber of Deputies and 24 for the Senate.

In addition to choosing half of the seats in the Chamber of Deputies and one third of the Senate, 1,697 councilmen, 42 mayors and other municipal authorities will also be elected throughout the country.

Voting began normally, unlike the primaries in September under strict epidemiological measures. There is today a more flexible protocol after a remarkable decrease of Covid-19 cases and with more than half of the population vaccinated with the full immunological scheme.

In these elections, the largest number of voters is concentrated in the province of Buenos Aires, followed by Córdoba and Santa Fe and the federal capital.
