Castro said that data on the pandemic in the country will suffer a variation as a result of these protests caused by sectors opposed to the Government, since without access to vaccines and diagnostics the chain of infections cannot be put under control, and it will be “a very strong blow” for the citizens.

The official warned in statements to Bolivia TV channel that in a few weeks Santa Cruz will register an increase of cases and the saturation of the health system.

She condemned that these actions take away from the population the opportunity to live, to be vaccinated or to have a timely diagnosis, and it is not fair that the Government makes all the efforts and this type of behavior causes a negative effect on health.

She stressed that there is no department lacking diagnostic tests, since they are guaranteed and there are 12 times more than last year.

The deputy minister pointed out that Bolivia had an increase of 21 percent of Covid-19 cases, however the figure may vary due to the protests in Santa Cruz.
