Bolivia gradually returns to normal according to authorities

Bolivia, retorno, normalidad
La Paz, nov 15 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian Justice Minister Iván Lima assured today that the country is gradually returning to normal despite the opposition call to hold the strike against Law 1386, the repeal of which was announced this Saturday.

Lima explained to state channel Bolivia TV that a national review confirmed the return to normal activities in various regions of the South American nation.

The authority added that the government’s commitment is the guarantee for the return to peace, as is the president Luis Arce’s to comply with provisions as quickly and efficiently as possible.

On the other hand, Lima insisted that with the announcement of the repeal of the controversial law, calls for strike from the opposition led by civic organizations like ‘Pro Santa Cruz’ Committee should stop.

“We are at a time of conflict closure and of hope for Bolivians”, he commented regarding civil disobedience initiatives that faced opponents and defenders of the government management in various parts of the Andean country.

On Saturday night, Arce announced to his compatriots the repeal of Law 1386, which establishes the national strategy to fight the legitimization of illicit profits and the financing of terrorism.

The legal initiative was rejected by the opposition on the grounds that it would make political persecution viable and obstruct the development of certain sectors opposed to the agenda of ruling ‘Movement for Socialism’ party.

However, experts point out that regulations would expose illegal financial operations, some related to payments to perpetrators of the violent events related to the coup in 2019.

The Chamber of Representatives of the Multi-national Legislative Assembly (parliament) will meet today at 18:00 hours, local time, to discuss the repeal of the above mentioned law.
