Over 90 percent of Cubans have received a Covid-19 shot

Havana, Nov 15 (Prensa Latina) Some 90.2 percent of Cubans (10,084,965) have received at least a shot of the domestic Covid-19 vaccines Soberana 02, Soberana Plus or Abdala, an official source reported on Monday.

The Ministry of Public Health reported that, by the end of November 13, some 9,110,672 people (81.4 percent) had received two shots, and 8,088,551 (72.3 percent) had been administered three doses.

Some 8,543,079 people (76.4 percent) have completed their vaccination schedule, according to the source.

According to this ministry, convalescents who suffered from this disease two or more months ago and received the single dose of Soberana Plus fall in this category.

A total of 27,284,188 doses have been administered so far, the report continued.

Due to these statistics, Cuba on Monday holds the position of leading country in the region with the highest percentage of people immunized against Covid-19, according to Our World in Data website, followed by Chile with 87 percent, Uruguay (80) and Brazil (76) by the end of November 14.

Meanwhile, the booster vaccination with Soberana Plus started in the capital on November 8 and will taken to the rest of the country step by step in several stages.
