The war against Syria and other Arab countries started with lies and destroyed many human, political and social structures, the foreign minister denounced in a talk held at the Damascus Convention Palace in the presence of senior Russian officials.

According to the chief diplomat, with its war, the West intends to change the political and geographical situation in the Middle East, and to achieve this end recruited thousands of terrorists and assassins to destroy the country and change its political positions, but they failed.

He denounced that the Western media lied a lot about the identity of tens of thousands of terrorists who fought in Syria, since almost all of them came from European countries and were armed, trained and deployed with Western funding.

On the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States and the European Union, al-Mekdad said that these unjust extraterritorial sanctions caused the deaths of many Syrians, Lebanese and Arabs.

Through their media machinery, they justify that the sanctions are to put pressure on the Syrian government, knowing full well that those hardly hit are ordinary citizens, the minister said.

He revealed that the British broadcaster BBC admitted a month ago that the UK government paid about four billion dollars for media propaganda campaigns against Damascus during the first years of the war.

What was paid and used for mendaciously distorting reality was much more and the goal was to kill the Syrian people and destroy their achievements, he concluded.
