The decision was made within the framework of the meeting’s 14th edition taking place in the Chinese city of Chongqing.

During the forum, President Guillermo Lasso, the only invited head of state, highlighted the importance of Asia and, specifically, China in the economic prosperity of the area.

Likewise, he welcomed the decision to choose Guayaquil as next venue, since in addition to becoming a space to address innovative issues on investments and public-private partnerships, the exchange will promote an important economic movement, by allowing the region to approach Chinese business circles.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Relations and Human Mobility, the event is one of the most prestigious in terms of international business at regional level.

Created by the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade in 2007, the summit has become the formal mechanism of dialogue and exchange for the economic and commercial sector of the China-Community of Latin American and Caribbean States Forum.

As part of the 14th meeting, Ecuadorian ambassador to China, Carlos Larrea, signed a bilateral agreement with vice president of the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Zhang Shaoyang.

The legal mechanism formalized the decision and within the framework, in a symbolic ceremony, Ecuador became the next host.
