Sudan opposition asks for investigation

Khartoum, Nov 19 (Prensa Latina) The opposition Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC) in Sudan demanded that an international commission investigate a bloody repression of demonstrators by the police, reported today the digital portal Sudan Tribune.

According to the civic organization, which integrates professionals from several fields, the circumstances in which 15 demonstrators died violently during protests for the return of civilian government and constitutional order on November 17th, while 80 others were injured, need to be clarified.

According to the complaint, the security forces, in addition to arresting demonstrators without permission in their homes, used live ammunition during the demonstrations and assaulted hospital facilities.

The FFC indicated in a document that the conclusions of the international commission should be sent to the International Criminal Court so that this organization may judge those responsible for the violent deaths of civilians during the protests.

After the military coup, which took place last October 25, civic movements, headed by the FFC and the Association of Sudanese Professionals, called for civil disobedience until the military ruling the Sovereign Transitional Council (CST) leaves power.

Shortly after the military uprising, led by the current president of the CST, General Abdel Fatah Al-Burham, the former governmental structure, which included military and civilians, was dissolved and the Prime Minister, Abdala Hamdok and the members of his Cabinet were arrested.
