On his Twitter account, the Cuban head of State congratulated “the courageous Venezuelan people and the Great Patriotic Pole, led by brother President @NicolasMaduro, for the resounding victory in the regional and municipal elections held in Venezuela.”

According to electoral sources, the ruling Venezuela United Socialist Party (PSUV) won 20 of the 23 governorships and the town hall of Caracas on Sunday.

Until last night, the turnout stood at 41.8 percent (8,151,793 voters), which could surpass that of last year’s legislative elections.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez also congratulated the people and government of Venezuela on Twitter, especially President Nicolas Maduro and the Great Patriotic Pole, for the “unequivocal triumph for the Bolivarian and Chavista Revolution”.
