Cuban minister of Culture congratulates winners of piano contest

Havana, Nov 25 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Minister of Culture, Alpidio Alonso, on Thursday congratulated the students who won the 2nd Latin American Piano Contest “America for All,” held from Nov.1-9.

On Twitter, Alonso confirmed the results of this event are “an undeniable achievement of our country’s artistic education system, dreamed of and created by Fidel (Castro).”

Students from the National School of Art, Havana’s Manuel Saumell Conservatory and Matanzas’ Elementary Music School triumphed at this event.

The jury was chaired by Venezuelan Clara Rodriguez and made up of Mexicans Jorge Viladoms and Antonio Manzo, Chilean Paulina Zamora, Argentinian Dora de Marinis and Cuban Leonardo Gell.

The main categories in the competition were Young Latin American Artist, Amateur Pianist, Young Pianist, Young Virtuoso (from 18 to 22 years of age) and Little Pianist, the latter with several awards for the Cubans.

With their brilliant performance, the pianists showcased the work of the country’s Piano Chairs in these years of pandemic.
