Lukashenko addresses immigrant claims on Belarusian border

Lukashenko-migrants
Minsk, nov 26 (Prensa Latina) Belarusian president, Alexandr Lukashenko, expressed today his will to comply with a number of claims from immigrants near the Belarusian-Polish border, intending to continue travel to Europe.

“We Belarusians, including me, will do whatever we want, even if it does not suit the Polish, Latvians and others”, Lukashenko said, speaking to refugees near Bruzgui’s Center camp of logistics and transport, where they are sheltered. He said ‘Minsk’ knows and understands them well, so he hopes the situation at the border will soon be resolved, Belta news agency said.

The president declared that between two thousand and three thousand immigrants are in the country, in addition to other two thousand in Bruzgui logistics center, near the checkpoint on the territorial border between Belarus and Poland.

He emphasized his government will not politicize problems. “In no case are we going to play and make politics on their fate”, the head of state said.

Lukashenko pointed out that Minsk will not increase tensions with Warsaw for creating a humanitarian corridor for the passage of immigrants to Germany.

“What can we do for you? But, understand that we cannot start a war to open you all a corridor through Poland to Germany”, he said, addressing the sheltered.

He reminded them that when they tried to enter Poland through the border checkpoints guards threw them poisonous chemicals, sonic grenades and tear gas.

The head of state assured that Belarus will not violently expel immigrants who are in the country. “In no way will we stop them, board them on airplanes and send them back to their homeland if they don’t want it”, he said, while reporting that, so far, about a thousand immigrants have already left the nation.

He made it clear that Minsk will not prevent them from trying to enter Western countries either. “If they want to go west, we will not detain them, we will not grab them and we will not beat them. It is their will”, the Belarusian president warned.
