Bolivian march invokes Túpac Katari to demand justice

La Paz, Nov 27 (Prensa Latina) The March for the Homeland between Oruro and La Paz in favor of the Government recalled on Friday the indigenous leader Túpac Katari in his request for justice for the victims of the 2019 coup.

The request to apply the law to those affected by the Senkata and Sacaba massacres during the de facto government of Jeanine Áñez was expressed by the executive secretary of the Central Obrera, Juan Carlos Huarachi, according to the Bolivian Information Agency.

“We asked the Public Ministry, the Attorney General, the Ministry of Justice, how long are we going to wait?” Insisted the labor leader in a speech at an event from Ayo Ayo, birthplace of the historic hero Túpac Katari.

Here are the people demanding justice and not only for our comrades from Senkata and Sacaba, this mobilization of popular sectors, peasants, indigenous and trade unions is also a signal to avoid a new coup d’état, he said.

Huarachi recalled that the March from Oruro to La Paz is in defense of President Luis Arce and Vice President David Choquehuanca, “but also to tell the fascist right that we will not allow more political, economic or social destabilization.”

The walk, which began on Monday from the eastern department under the leadership of the president of the Movement for Socialism Evo Morales, will conclude on November 29 in La Paz with a concentration of the country’s main social organizations.
