This scientist told Rossiya 1 channel that, with the ongoing research, the trials have started to test that intranasal form of the Sputnik V vaccine from the Gamaleya Institute.

He recalled that, a few days ago, President Vladimir Putin got vaccinated again against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus using this form and said he would be the first to test it.

Ginstburg said that the new vaccine is administered with an ordinary syringe, with a special mouthpiece in the tip instead of a needle, which has a filter with tiny holes.

In October, Russia’s Ministry of Health authorized the beginning of the second phase of the clinical trials of this candidate, which, according to Gintsburg, is another barrier against this infection, but will not replace the need of inoculating the vaccine.

The expert also said that the children who have been immunized so far as part of the trials of the nasal vaccine did not have adverse effects after vaccination.

Gamaleya Center Deputy Director Denis Logunov said the vaccine is painless and has minimal side effects.
