Mayte Suarez, the Ministry’s director for events, said that among the 160 activities to be held next year are the San Remo Music Awards (April), the World Cocktail Championship, from October 28 to November 2 in Varadero, and the Cuba Health Convention.
In general, there will be meetings on different topics, such as communication, law, biotechnology, medicine, architecture and educational and cultural events, the latter of which are very popular, Suarez said.
So far, 70 meetings have been registered for 2023, which may increase as the date approaches.
Although the epidemiological situation in the world raises questions about the development of this modality, the official from the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) highlighted Cuba’s safety due to the vaccination of more than 82 percent of the population, including children, against Covid-19.
In addition, the staff in the tourism sector has already received the third shot of vaccines; more than 2,200 facilities have the certification of Safer and Hygienic Tourism, and Cuba is controlling the pandemic without neglecting surveillance and health protocols.
She highlighted the infrastructure conditions, since Cuba has convention centers and hotels with facilities for meetings, in addition to travel agencies throughout the country and translation and interpretation services.
