After a meeting between the federal government and those of the German states in which more restrictions were approved, such as access to stores only for people vaccinated or recovered from Covid-19, Scholz noted that the aid will be extended, DPA news agency reported on Thursday.

The next head of Government added that the extension to the whole country of these rules in the retail sector is justified because everyone has the possibility to be vaccinated.

The final document of the meeting pointed out that the federal government will extend the current subsidies, which were limited until the end of the year, as well as other measures, until the end of March 2022.

This is a major national effort, and one of solidarity, Scholz pointed out after the conference, which he attended together with incumbent Chancellor Angela Merkel and the prime ministers of the federal states.

Merkel’s successor stressed that the federal executive will do everything possible to improve the Covid-19 situation in Germany and that, in addition to the vaccine crisis team, there will be a new committee of scientific experts that will also advise the federal states.

The aim, he said, is to reach joint, coordinated proposals on how to combat the pandemic.
