On several messages posted on Twitter, the scientific research institution first showed the vaccine’s capacity to stimulate how to fight the disease in individuals previously injected with Russia’s Sputnik or China’s Sinopharm vaccines.

The CIGB, one of the major institutions of its kind in Cuba, also highlighted the increased memory response in people previously inoculated with Soberana 02 plus Soberana Plus vaccines, both developed by, or with Abdala (CIGB-66).

After receiving authorization from the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices, Cuba began to administer a Covid-19 booster dose to health workers on November 7 in Havana.

CIGB Clinical Research Director Verena Muzio recently explained on television that all vaccine manufacturers, as part of the clinical assessment strategy of their products, need to know what happens over time with the immunized individuals.

The studies’ results, she stressed, indicated that as is the case in all biological products against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, antibodies decrease over time, so at any time, it is necessary to administer a booster dose.
