Designed for filmmakers who wish to promote a change in favor of free sexual orientation or gender identity, the contest distinguished the documentary “Hermanos”, by Osmanys Sanchez Araño, and the fiction short films “Una cancion para ti”, by Melvin Rocco, and “Azul Pandora”, by Alan Gonzalez.

The three works emerged as winners among twenty projects evaluated by the jury, due to their quality and feasibility, as well as their ability to make visible the rights of the Lgbtiq+ community.

The jury also took into account the potential of other projects and offered the possibility of participating in an advisory workshop on this topic and script writing to the filmmakers of the audiovisuals Adre, Exuvia, HappyBDay and La cuna.

The contest calls to portray the value of equality in favor of social justice, taking cinema as a point of rupture of preconceived social patterns, which perpetuate gender gaps, said the organizers.

Convened by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), the event is part of a series of projects that will be announced progressively, including the contest For a life free of violence against women and girls in Cuba, valid until January 28, 2022.
