Ricardo Fleuridor, spokesman for the group, assured that the government decision would provoke violent movements with very negative consequences for the country.

For the activist, the government should reduce its expenditures and relocate the intelligence budget into the public treasury in order to have the necessary resources to maintain fuel subsidies.

Last week, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Odney Ricot Pierre, confirmed that the authorities are evaluating a fuel price hike, and assured that they are analyzing the best strategy to implement the provision without affecting the most vulnerable consumers, the vast majority of citizens.

Prime Minister Ariel Henry indicated during the creation of the new Cabinet that the State cannot continue with this burden to the detriment of social services.

According to data presented by the incumbent, the Government loses 259 gourdes (about 2.5 dollars) for each gallon of gasoline and 195 gourdes (almost two dollars) for the same measure of diesel, costs that can no longer be borne by the Treasury.
