Japan to allow Afghan evacuees to enter the country

Tokyo, Dec 9 (Prensa Latina) Japan granted a special entry permit to Afghans who work in its Embassy in Kabul and wish to leave Afghanistan, as an exemption from border restrictions by Covid-19, local media reported.

The source said that the decision also benefits Afghan workers at the Japan International Cooperation Agency, as well as their families.

The central administration added that the measure responds to humanitarian reasons, in light of the worsening situation in Afghanistan, which has been ruled by the Taliban movement since August.

Japan banned new entries of foreigners since November 30 as a measure against the Omicron variant of the SARS Cov-2 coronavirus, and also tightened the criteria to allow foreigners to enter the country under exceptional circumstances.
