Cuba confirms 65 new Covid-19 cases and no deaths

Havana, Dec 10 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Public Health Ministry (Minsap) reported today 65 new confirmed cases of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the cause of Covid-19, and for the fourth consecutive day the country falls below 100 diagnosed daily.

This day’s figure is the fifth in the whole year in which the number of cases fell below 100, after a period with considerable numbers of infected people, which raised the total to 963,493 since March 2020.

According to the report of the national entity, no patient has died in the last hours and Cuba has accumulated 8,311 deaths so far as a result of the pandemic since last year.

Thus, the lethality rate is 0.86 percent compared to 1.97 percent in the world and 2.41 percent in the Americas.

On the other hand, 82 medical discharges were granted, meaning that 954,741 patients in Cuba managed to recover from the disease, which represents 99.1 percent of all those infected.

The Minsap report indicates that 384 people remain with the active virus, of whom 369 have a stable clinical evolution, while eight are critical and seven are seriously ill.

The provinces with the highest numbers were Holguin with 24 cases, Camagüey (nine), Ciego de Avila (six) and Havana with five confirmed cases.
