Until Saturday, December 11, Cuban health authorities had vaccinated with at least one shot of their nationally-made vaccine 10,217,205 people, out of a population of 11 million, the Ministry of Public Health reported on Sunday.
Some 9,262,225 people have received a second dose and 9,357,454 are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. A total of 28,960,590 doses of national vaccines against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus have been administered in Cuba to date.
BioCubaFarma’s director of Scientific Policy, Rolando Perez, explained that vaccination against Covd-19 is based on a three-dose scheme for full immunization, and they have now started administering the booster vaccine.
Gaining worldwide recognition, Cuba has produced its own vaccines: Abdala, Sovereign 02 and Sovereign Plus and Sovereign 01 (being used as booster shots ), and the internasal Mambisa which is on its final clinical trials.
