Cuba reaffirms rejection to gender violence

Havana, Dec 12 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's National Center for Sex Education (Cenesex) today rejected in a statement all forms of gender-based violence and reaffirmed the State's willingness to fight back this scourge.

Based on information about denunciations related to this type of violence in social media, the institution considers legitimate respect for the victims and put the Center’s legal counseling and therapy services at their disposal.

Also the national program for women’s advancement, the comprehensive strategy for the prevention of gender violence and in the family scenario, as well as the proposal of the Family Code.

“We urge victims to file the corresponding complaints following the legally established procedures and we reiterate our commitment to support their demand to be able to go through this complex process,” the communiqué adds.

At the same time, Cenesex alerts the media and network users about the importance of responsible, informed and advised communication to handle cases and avoid the re-victimization of women.
