In an extensive study published by the newspaper Milenio, it indicates that these mafias are also fighting for the control of natural resources that coincide with drug trafficking routes in the state.

The non-governmental organization, chaired by Abel Barrera, in its report for 2021, revealed that a criminal map is being drawn up that documents how the different criminal groups converge.

According to the document, it is in Chilpancingo where the economic interests of the groups coincide because it is a compulsory passage to the mountainous region and the highlands, and it is described as a strategic enclave for the control of the routes, in dispute between Los Tlacos and the Cartel de la Sierra.

Control of the route known as Circuito Azul, which connects the municipalities of Mochitlán and Quechultenango, is said to be in the hands of the Ardillos group, as well as the route from Quechultenango to Ayutla.
