The donation, delivered by the Ministry of Public Health, will also contribute to the booster immunization plan, developed by the government while it focuses on the national economic reactivation.

Mexico has also donated physical therapy equipment, 95,000 polio vaccines for children and 50,000 dollars to the National Risk and Emergency Management Service in order to alleviate the indirect effects of this health emergency.

The AstraZeneca vaccine is being currently administered to people who completed their basic Covid-19 vaccination schedule six months ago and those who do not have comorbidities or preexisting illnesses.

The rest of the vaccines used to fight the disease are from the Sinovac, Pfizer laboratories. The single-dose Cansino vaccine was also used.

The aim of the government is to achieve herd immunity with the vaccination of 85 percent of the population by the end of this year.

So far, 75.43 percent of citizens have completed their vaccination schedule, and 755,390 booster shots have been administered.
