At a joint press conference with President of Parliament Nabih Berri, Guterres assured that the United Nations will mobilize the international community to support Lebanon, the pan-Arab Al Mayadeen channel reported.
But to do this, he said, it is time for Lebanese leaders to unite.
The UN general secretary visited the port of Beirut, where there was a deadly explosion in August, 2020, and laid a wreath at the monument of martyrs.
Another issue addressed by the visitor, the Naharnet website reported, was Israel’s constant violation of Lebanon’s air space.
He said that they discussed the need for the international community to provide additional support to the Lebanese Army, referring to Israel’s violation of Resolution 1701 of the Security Council.
