Nicaragua examines demand and increase in exports to China

Managua, Dec 22 (Prensa Latina) The Nicaraguan government values the reestablishment of diplomatic relations with China as a possibility to expand exports of national products to this new market and eliminate the current tariff penalty.

According to the presidential advisor for economic issues Bayardo Arce, the Central American country already markets seafood and wood with the Asian territory and, although it is still impossible to predict an increase in sales, he considered the links and investment possibilities in social projects.

The official did not rule out the establishment of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Nicaragua and China, although the logic points more to the emergence of such an agreement between Beijing and Central America, since in the region there are five countries that maintain relations with the Asian economic power.

Before the reconstitution of ties, he affirmed, the entry of Nicaraguan inputs to the Asian nation represented a disadvantage since they arrived via Taiwan or Vietnam and he recognized how the new modality creates facilities and opportunities for small and large entrepreneurs.

Another advantage of the links is that China has technologies recognized worldwide in the so-called green transport, an aspect of interest for Nicaragua regarding the use of electric cars and the transition towards an eco-friendly revolution.

To do this, the country created a National Electric Mobility Table, an advance that is part of its commitments to the Green Climate Fund and of the initiative to promote this type of mobility at the regional level, from holistic thinking and the association of the sectors of energy and transport with the environment.
